Hands On Science Takes 6th Grade to the Stream

The 6th grade did a field study at the James River Joe Crighton Access. Students collected organisms and identified them using the Invertebrate Identification Card. They had fun using the dip nets and kick seines. After the identification was completed they were able to determine the water quality of the James River. The results – good quality water at the Joe Crighton Access. Critters found included: hellgrammites, mayfly nymphs, stonefly nymphs, dragonfly nymphs, snails, darter fish, gliders and crawfish. Way To Go! - Mrs. Schaller, Mr. Clark and Mr. Wanner. What a great day for some learning time in and at the stream.
